MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Sept. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Aviron (Nasdaq: AVIR)
today announced the appointments of Ed Arcuri, Ph.D., senior vice president,
operations, to the newly created position of senior vice president and chief
operating officer and Carol Olson, senior vice president, commercial
development, to the newly created position of senior vice president and chief
commercial officer.
Dr. Arcuri adds oversight for the quality assurance, quality control and
regulatory affairs organizations to his existing manufacturing and operational
responsibilities. Ms. Olson's responsibilities for corporate development,
commercialization, information technology and marketing remain unchanged.
The company also announced the promotion of Michael Cowan to vice
president, compliance. Previously, Mr. Cowan was senior director, quality
assurance and validation. In this newly created position, Mr. Cowan will
report directly to the chief executive officer and will oversee the company's
compliance with all applicable current good manufacturing practices and
regulatory requirements.
