LAS VEGAS, Sept. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Top executives at the Motor &
Equipment Manufacturer's Association (MEMA) and the Automotive Aftermarket
Industry Association (AAIA) have confirmed plans to move forward with the
Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) as scheduled this fall. The
tradeshow, which draws 1,900 exhibitors both from the U.S. and abroad, will be
held at the Sands Expo Center October 30 through November 2.
In a letter directed to the global automotive aftermarket industry,
Christopher M. Bates, president and CEO of MEMA, and Alfred Gaspar, president
and CEO of AAIA, expressed their commitment to this year's AAPEX tradeshow.
"It is time -- as President Bush states -- to resume our daily routines in
our family, civic and business lives," said Bates and Gaspar. "With this in
mind, planning continues to ensure that AAPEX 2001 will be the best one ever.
Although recent tragic events will not soon be forgotten, AAPEX show sponsors
are working to do their part to help our industry and market regain lost
momentum."
AAPEX will occupy more than 1.2 million square feet of space at the Sands
Expo Center, and is expected to draw 36,000 buyers from all segments of the
automotive aftermarket distribution chain. As part of the Automotive
Aftermarket Industry Week in Las Vegas, AAPEX runs concurrently with the
Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA), which will be held at the
Las Vegas Convention Center. Together, the two tradeshows are expected to
bring more that 82,000 delegates to Las Vegas and generate more than
$111 million in non-gaming revenue for the destination.
"Las Vegas looks forward to hosting AAPEX and SEMA each year," said
Manuel J. Cortez, president and CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors
Authority. "We are pleased that the show sponsors have shown their commitment
both to their industry and to Las Vegas."
