Jeremy "Jerry" Jeffery Joins Aflac Investment Department

    COLUMBUS, Ga., Sept. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Aflac Incorporated
(NYSE: AFL) today announced that Jeremy "Jerry" Jeffery has joined the
company's investment department as senior vice president and deputy chief
investment officer, reporting to Joseph W. Smith.
    Jeffery, a graduate of Yale University, had a 23-year career with Morgan
Stanley before joining Aflac. While at Morgan Stanley, he focused on diverse
fixed income strategies affecting a wide range of industries and served as
executive director, Fixed Income Institutional Sales for the past 10 years.
    In announcing Jeffery's new position, Senior Vice President and Chief
Investment Officer Joseph W. Smith stated: "Jerry's expertise brings
additional strength to Aflac's fixed income management capabilities. His
experience with helping to devise fixed income strategies for a variety of
