New Family of Wireless Headsets debuts at PCIA GlobalXChange show in Chicago

NASHUA, N.H., Sept. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- GN Netcom today introduced the
GN 9000 Digital headset, the first over-the-head, truly wireless, 2.4 GHz
hands-free solution. Another hallmark innovation from GN Netcom, the new GN
9000 Digital uses the globally approved 2.4 GHz frequency band, weighs a mere
2.1 oz, and offers seven hours of talk time -- ideal for daylong use.
Utilizing this technology, a GN 9000 Digital user can roam up to 50 feet from
the base station, with secure, crystal-clear, interference-free reception.
That means unrestricted freedom of movement with uncompromising sound quality.

Designed for the general office and SOHO markets, the GN 9000 Digital
provides unprecedented freedom of movement by liberating users from their
desks and even the confines of their offices. This announcement was made at
the PCIA GlobalXChange Conference and Exposition in Chicago.
"We are constantly looking at how we can help increase the productivity of
our customers. The freedom to work hands-free and not be tethered to your
office phone is no longer a luxury; it's a requirement," said P. Michael
Fairweather, president and CEO of GN Netcom, Inc. and executive vice president
of the GN Netcom Group. "The GN 9000 Digital is the next logical step in the
evolution of wireless headset technology."
The GN 9000 Digital combines both a transmitter and receiver in a single,
compact unit that is both comfortable and attractive. The product has a
manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $349 and will be available on
October 2, 2000.

    New Series of Wireless Headsets
Rounding out GN Netcom's portfolio of wireless products are the new
GN 9000 Bluetooth(TM) and the popular GN Ellipse 2.4, a third generation,
flagship product for the company.
Launched today, the GN 9000 Bluetooth is the world's first commercially
available wireless headset to achieve official Bluetooth product qualification
from a Bluetooth Qualification Body (BQB).
Designed for the professional office, call center and SOHO markets, the
GN Ellipse transmits at the 2.4 GHz frequency, offering interference-free
reception anywhere within 200 feet of the base unit, in a coverage area of
more than 125,000 square feet. With GN Ellipse, users can choose from a full
range of lightweight and comfortable headset styles that plug into the 4 oz
remote unit. The GN Ellipse offers an optional hookswitch device that allows
users to answer and terminate calls remotely, and with 12 hours of talk time
per battery, it provides round-the-clock operation. The GN Ellipse has an
MSRP of $450 for the remote unit and base station.
The new GN 9000 series is showcased at the PCIA GlobalXChange Conference
and Exposition, September 26-29, at Chicago's McCormick Place. GN Netcom is
exhibiting in booth #919 in the main pavilion and #3982 "O" in the Bluetooth
