Chemical Financial Corporation Names Two Executive Vice Presidents

    MIDLAND, Mich., Sept. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- The Board of Directors of
Chemical Financial Corporation (Nasdaq: CHFC) has named James R. Milroy to be
the Corporation's Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and
Lori A. Gwizdala to be its Executive Vice President and Chief Financial
Officer.  Both appointments are effective January 1, 2002.
    Mr. Milroy, 41, has been President and Chief Executive Officer of Chemical
Bank Shoreline, a Chemical subsidiary, since January of this year when
Shoreline Financial Corporation merged with Chemical Financial.  Previously,
he had been President and Chief Operating Officer of Shoreline Financial and
Shoreline Bank.  Mr. Milroy is a Certified Public Accountant who joined the
Shoreline organization in 1990 as Vice President and Comptroller.  For eight
years prior to joining Shoreline, he practiced public accounting at Crowe,
Chizek & Co.  He received his degree in accounting from Michigan State
University and is a graduate of the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at the
University of Delaware.
    Ms. Gwizdala, 43, has served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial
Officer of the Corporation since 1991.  She joined the Chemical organization
as Comptroller in 1985 and was designated Vice President and Chief Financial
Officer in 1988.  She is a Certified Public Accountant and practiced that
profession at Ernst & Young prior to joining Chemical Financial.  She earned
her degree in accounting at Central Michigan University.
    Both Mr. Milroy and Ms. Gwizdala are members of the Michigan Association
of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public
Accountants.
    The Board of Directors of Chemical Bank Shoreline will select a successor
to Mr. Milroy as the bank's President and Chief Executive Officer later this
year.
