Baracoda RoadRunners Mark New Era in Mobile Data Capture

     Flexible Barcode Scanning Solution Enables ISVs to Provide Wireless
   Applications for the Mobile Professional where Form Factor, Weight, and
                               Autonomy are Key

    CHICAGO, Sept. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Frontline Solutions Conference & Expo --
Adding to its leading line of Bluetooth enabled barcode scanning solutions for
mobile data capture, Baracoda announced today the availability of the Baracoda
RoadRunners family, a mobile Bluetooth enabled barcode scanning solution that
ISVs can quickly integrate into their wireless offerings targeting mobile
professionals in the areas of field service management, pick-up and delivery,
sales force automation, inventory tracking and asset management. With these
new devices, Baracoda meets end-user demand for durable scanners with a
portable form factor, an extended battery life and advanced technical
capabilities while simplifying the development process for ISVs.
    "After speaking with mobile professionals working with wireless barcode
scanners, we realized there was a need for high performance devices with user-
friendly ergonomics," said Alex Guillot, managing director for Baracoda's US
operations. "We believe the Baracoda RoadRunners solution will allow ISVs to
answer customer demand for high quality while affordable devices that are
light, easy to use, portable, durable, functional and easily integrated with
any type of mobile device."

    Optimized Form Factor
    The optimized form factor allows the device to easily fit into a pocket
and enables convenient handling such as scanning barcodes in tight spaces.
Baracoda RoadRunners have an integrated stylus for PDA tactile screen
maneuvering, a protective boot for added durability and a key retractable reel
to fasten to a belt for hands-free use.

    Advanced Technical Capabilities

    * Scanning Capability
    There are two versions within the Baracoda RoadRunners family, both with
robust scanning capabilities. The BRR-L version scans all one-dimensional
barcodes at 200 scans per second including dirty or damaged barcodes.
Additionally, the BRR-L version scans barcodes through glass and on computer
screens. The BRR-F version reads very small two-dimensional barcodes at 240
scans per second. The device family uses CMOS image scanning technology
which, unlike laser scanners, has no moving parts and therefore less potential
for damage when dropped. By the end of the year the Baracoda RoadRunners will
have added functionality for reading RFID tags, making the device the first
dual Bluetooth barcode scanner / 13.56 RFID reader.

    * Battery Performance
    With one full charge, superior battery capacity enables one week of normal
usage in mobility applications and more than one day of intense usage.

    * Wide Platform Support
    Baracoda has the widest platform support of any company in the barcode
scanner market. The Baracoda RoadRunners seamlessly integrate with PDAs using
Pocket PC 2002, Windows Mobile 2003, and PalmOS. The devices also work with
Symbian and Java based mobile phones such as the RIM's BlackBerry 7520 and the
Motorola i605 devices. And for PC or tablets, the Baracoda RoadRunners are
compatible with devices running with Windows XP, Windows 2000, or Windows
Tablet PC.

    * Bluetooth Wireless Technology
    Baracoda realized early on the value of Bluetooth wireless technology when
applied to mobile data capture solutions and was the first to integrate the
technology into a barcode scanner and an RFID reader. Baracoda RoadRunners'
Bluetooth technology capability allows the device to seamlessly connect to a
wide variety of devices that include Bluetooth technology as a feature.
Baracoda RoadRunners' Bluetooth Class 1 radio allows communication up to 300
feet (100 meters). When a user is out of Bluetooth range, the Baracoda
RoadRunners still capture and store up to 10,000 barcodes that are
automatically uploaded to the master device after the scanner gets back in
range and automatically reconnects with their master device.

    * ISV Support
    Because Baracoda provides free access to application program interfaces
(APIs) on the Baracoda web site, ISVs will be able to create mobile data
capture solutions based on Baracoda RoadRunners virtually overnight without
requiring any development or expertise in Bluetooth or barcode scanning.
