PORTLAND, Ore., and PLEASANTON, Calif., Sept. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Welch
Allyn Protocol, a leading supplier of patient monitoring technology, and
Mallinckrodt Inc. (NYSE: MKG), the market leader in the pulse oximetry
industry, today announced a new agreement which commits the parties to closer
cooperation in integrating state-of-the-art Nellcor pulse oximetry technology
in the Welch Allyn Protocol patient monitoring product line.
Welch Allyn Protocol, recognizing the strong end-user demand for the
latest oximetry technology to be incorporated in their devices, will work
closely with Nellcor to offer Nellcor oximetry solutions in Welch Allyn
Protocol monitors as they become available.
"This fits our go-forward model very well," said Doris Engibous, vice
president of Oximetry for Mallinckrodt. "We are partnering more closely than
ever before with our top-volume OEM customers to share our experience in
oximetry integration and to make sure that the products we develop take their
specific requirements in mind."
"Together we are much faster to market than working in isolation," said
Bill Bednarski, vice president, OEM & Licensing Technology, Mallinckrodt.
"This is very good news for all clinicians who have been trusting Nellcor
oximetry for so many years."
"Mallinckrodt's Nellcor brand of pulse oximetry is the acknowledged market
leader in the industry," said Robert F. Adrion, president & CEO of Welch Allyn
Protocol. "Our customers ask for Nellcor oximetry compatibility in our
products by name. We are very pleased to be strengthening our relationship
with Mallinckrodt."
Engibous added, "We have been doing business with both Welch Allyn and
Protocol for years and, quite frankly, would not be in the position we are
today without that support. As Welch Allyn and Protocol come together, it is
a great opportunity to contribute to their leadership positions."
