Fast Printing and Integration With Existing Networks for Easy Installation
And Management
EVERETT, Wash., Sept. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Intermec Technologies Corp. today
introduced EasyLAN(TM) 100i, integrated Ethernet connectivity for the 501XP
and 601XP series bar code label printers. By providing advanced connectivity
and support of open industry standards, EasyLAN 100i makes it easy for network
managers to install, manage and support Intermec printers.
The EasyLAN100i offers comprehensive support for configuration and
management of the 501XP and 601XP across the Internet or corporate intranets.
Based on Axis Communications' ETRAX 100, an optimized 32-bit RISC chip
with built-in advanced I/O and network controllers, the EasyLAN 100I
automatically senses and negotiates between 10 BaseT and 100 BaseT network
speeds.
In addition, the high-speed printer interface, built on open IEEE 1284.4
standards, ensures the fastest possible data stream throughput to the printer.
Intermec is the first company to offer a printer that meets the open IEEE
1284.4 standard.
IT administrators can manage the printer via the network, providing less
down time. Messages like "media out" or "ribbon out" are sent to the user who
originated the print job or to the person who maintains the printer. EasyLAN
100i supports open management systems such as SNMP-MIB II, Intermec Printer
MIB, and HP JetAdmin.
"Now you can take full advantage of the incredible bandwidth of your
100 BaseTX Fast Ethernet network infrastructure," said Jeff Menken, Intermec
Senior product manager, New Printing Technology. "When you combine the
EasyLAN ETRAX 100 MIPS network processor with the 501XP or 601XP's 32 bit RISC
processor, you can send print jobs including complex labels with barcodes,
text, and graphics to the printer at lightning speed with full-rated printer
performance."
EasyLAN 100i supports Intermec's Internet Network Communications
Architecture (INCA(TM)), the industry's leading platform for radio-independent
wireless networking. The INCA platform gives customers the freedom to choose
the best radio frequency technology for each application and the ability to
mix radio technologies within the enterprise network. INCA supports 400 MHz
UHF, 900 MHz, 2450 MHz Open Air, IEEE 802.11 Direct Sequence, and IEEE 802.11
High Rate. This plug-and-play architecture covers all elements of a complete
wireless LAN, from data collection terminals to the wireless infrastructure to
connectivity with wired networks and printers.
