LEXINGTON, Mass., Sept. 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Two Raytheon Company
businesses in North Texas have attained Capability Maturity Model Integration
(CMMI(R)) Level 5 certification for software engineering from the Software
Engineering Institute (SEI).
CMMI Level 5 is the highest certification of software engineering
excellence that can be achieved. CMMI levels are increasingly used by
government agencies and contractors to evaluate the potential for
organizations to produce quality products on time and within budget.
"Achieving level 5 demonstrates a commitment to excellence and allows us
to quantitatively predict our performance and continually improve our
execution," said William H. Swanson, Raytheon CEO and president. "It is an
outstanding accomplishment reflecting the exceptional talent of our
engineering and related disciplines and their ability to develop innovative
solutions for our customers."
Raytheon Network Centric Systems and Space and Airborne Systems share this
recognition at several locations within North Texas.
The rating was awarded following an evaluation by a team of SEI-trained
independent appraisers. The rating represents Raytheon's ability to apply a
disciplined, yet flexible, engineering process across a broad range of project
sizes and types. With a focus on both incremental and innovative technology
improvements, the result is superior quality, greater productivity and
predictable program performance for Raytheon's customers.
