Dot Hill Adds Support for IBM's Integrated Platform for Telecommunications

SANnet II FC Storage Systems Qualified on Linux-Based Platform

CARLSBAD, Calif., Sept. 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Dot Hill
(Nasdaq: HILL) today announced that its SANnet(R) II FC (Fibre Channel)
storage solutions have been tested and qualified with IBM eServer Integrated
Platform for Telecommunications with the IBM eServer(R) BladeCenter(TM)
systems. The SANnet II FC RAID array, Dot Hill's SANscape(R) storage
management software and SANpath(R) storage networking software were
successfully tested with Red Hat Linux on the IBM eServer BladeCenter running
IBM's Integrated Platform for Telecommunications, Base and Extended platforms.
Dot Hill's carrier-grade SANnet II FC storage systems are optimized for
use in telecommunications solutions such as those offered by IBM. With
high-speed FC connections, compact 2U enclosure, NEBS Level 3 certification
and AC or DC power options, the SANnet II FC offers service providers a
rugged, scalable external storage solution.
"As a participant in the IBM ServerProven(TM) program, Dot Hill has
demonstrated its commitment to support IBM eServer BladeCenter customers with
compatible storage solutions," said Omar Barraza, Dot Hill's director of
marketing. "These latest test results ensure that SANnet II FC provides a
qualified storage solution to telecom customers using IBM's new Integrated
Platform for Telecommunications."
At the upcoming VON (Voice on the Net) Conference and Expo, October 18 to
21, at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, booth 704, IBM will demonstrate
the Integrated Platform for Telecommunications (Base and Extended offerings)
featuring NEBs compliance and high availability in a clustered environment;
IBM WebSphere and DB2 Universal Database; SteelEye Life Keeper for DB2; and
Dot Hill's SANnet II FC storage.
The SANnet II FC storage solutions feature 2Gbit Fibre Channel technology
with support for sophisticated storage area network (SAN) and traditional
direct attached storage (DAS) architectures. Dot Hill's SANscape and SANpath
storage software enable comprehensive remote management and secure storage
networking. SANnet II FC storage solutions feature 12 disk drive bays, single
or dual controllers, AC or DC power supplies and eight host ports in a compact
2U (3.5 inches high) enclosure. Capacity scales without interruption by
adding one or more expansion systems providing an additional 12 disk drive
bays each. SANnet II FC solutions deliver very fast performance -- up to
160,000 transactions per second from cache.
The SANnet II family of storage solutions provides industry leading
99.9998+ percent uptime in compact, rack-optimized packages. They are
certified to meet NEBS Level 3 and ETSI telecommunications standards along
with U.S. Department of Defense MIL-STD-810F standards. SANnet II brings
carrier-grade reliability and enterprise-class features to open systems
platforms. The common modular architecture of the SANnet II family provides
seamless scalability for future growth within storage networking and direct
attached environments. All SANnet II products feature hot-swappable,
field-replaceable components including drives, controllers, power supplies,
fans and event monitoring units.
