Alliance Health and Life Insurance Company to Offer Medicare Enrollees Local Medicare Advantage PPO Plans with Prescription Drug Coverage

    DETROIT, Sept. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Health Alliance Plan's subsidiary,
Alliance Health and Life Insurance Company, will offer a Local Medicare
Advantage PPO for seniors and Medicare-eligible enrollees. The Alliance
Medicare PPO offers three PPO plans with a choice of flexible benefits and
premiums -- with or without Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage.
Seniors and Medicare-eligible enrollees can choose the flexible PPO plan
that's best for them. The PPO plans offer a choice of in- and out-of-network
coverage and an expanded nine-county network of doctors and hospitals at an
affordable premium cost. Enrollees can choose the physicians they want to see
with no referrals.
The PPO plans will be available to seniors and Medicare-eligible
individuals residing in Genesee, Lapeer, Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland,
St. Clair, Washtenaw and Wayne counties.
Marketing activities will begin in October 2005. Enrollment for the new
Alliance Medicare PPO will start on November 15, 2005. Coverage becomes
effective January 1, 2006.
"In addition to providing affordable coverage and coordinated medical care
for enrollees, HAP's Medicare Advantage plans can help employers combat the
rising cost of retiree health care coverage," said Francine Parker, HAP
president and CEO. "Their retirees will receive comprehensive, affordable
coverage beyond their valued standard Medicare benefits. Additional benefits
include preventive services, health and wellness programs, eye exams,
prescription drugs benefits, and emergency and urgent care coverage worldwide.
"Thanks to the range of options now available through HAP and Alliance
Health and Life, employers and seniors can choose a plan that addresses their
individual concerns about cost, coverage and convenience," said Parker.
"Retirees with health benefits should ask their former employer for advice.
Experienced HAP Medicare representatives also are available to assist them."
