Integration Of Microsoft MapPoint .NET with E.piphany E.6 Software Showcases
Web Services Interoperability
SAN MATEO, Calif., Sept. 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
E.piphany, Inc. (Nasdaq: EPNY), a full-suite provider of customer relationship
management (CRM) software, today announced the integration of Microsoft
MapPoint .NET, a next-generation geographic mapping system, with the E.piphany
E.6(TM) software. The integration of the .NET Web Service with the E.piphany
Sales 6 suite of products demonstrates how quickly and easily new Web Services
architectures can help create innovative application capabilities combining
components from multiple vendors.

"While other CRM vendors attempt to re-architect their applications to fit
into a Web Services model in the future, E.piphany's E.6 component-based CRM
applications are fully ready for Web Services today, regardless of platform,"
said Phil Fernandez, executive vice president of products at E.piphany. "By
building E.piphany E.6 around a Web Services model, we ensured customers can
capitalize on the industry-shift toward Web Services. Although MapPoint is a
.NET-based Web Service, and E.piphany E.6 is based on J2EE, today's open Web
Services standards allow for seamless interoperation between these important
technologies."
"Since MapPoint .NET is built on open Internet standards, we've made it
easy for any company to add location and mapping functionality into their
business," said Michael Graff, MapPoint General Manager, Microsoft
Corporation. "E.piphany is ahead of the curve in recognizing the value that
MapPoint can deliver to the sales force, and in turn to their customers."
With the integration of Microsoft MapPoint, end users will be able to have
E.piphany Sales 6 call the Web Service to map customer locations, obtain
driving directions and plot travel itineraries, all without leaving the
E.piphany application. To activate the mapping solution, customers need only
to subscribe to the Microsoft MapPoint service. The E.piphany-Microsoft
integration furthers traditional sales force automation solutions that just
focused on providing sales managers with tools to monitor and improve
productivity of the sales process, but offered little to no value to the
primary users of the system, the sales representative. The solution empowers
the sales force to maximize the value of every customer interaction and
deliver better return on investment by providing accurate, real-time customer
intelligence from multiple channels, systems and data sources.
"In order for sales teams to be effective, they have to understand their
customers, and to do that they need real-time intelligence. The addition of
the Microsoft MapPoint service into E.piphany Sales 6 will give our customers'
sales teams added location intelligence without added process complexity, and
will demonstrate the benefits of using our Web Services-ready CRM solution,"
Fernandez added.
