"The Artists-in-Residence Program echoes one of the company's core values,
which is to foster a global network of cultures and people from around the
world," said Klaus Kleinfeld, president and chief executive officer of Siemens
Corporation. "Our first two composers, Dmitri Yanov-Yanovsky and Tamami Tono,
both experienced successful residencies," Kleinfeld, added. "We are excited
about Ms. Ngoc's residence, as it's an example of how cultures can gain a
better understanding of one another, simply by sharing the gift of music."
Ms. Ngoc was selected by the program's distinguished panel of judges,
which includes Artistic Director and Cellist Yo-Yo Ma, Dartmouth Professor of
Music Ted Levin, McGill Music Faculty Member and Silk Road Ensemble Musician
Kojiro Umezaki, and Jens Cording, Siemens Arts Program. She is a graduate of
Hanoi National Conservatory of Music and has recently completed her post
graduate studies at the Cologne Music College in Germany with a concentration
in composition improvisation and computer-music. Ngoc is a performance
artist who has done extensive improvisation work, both as a singer and
composer. She is a member of the International Alliance for Women in Music and
plays the piano, Vietnamese flute and the Vietnamese 36-string lute.

    About The Siemens Artists-in-Residence Program
The Siemens Artists-in-Residence Program, a joint initiative between
Siemens USA and the Siemens Arts Program, Munich, awards scholarships to
musical composers from Asian and European countries along the ancient 'Silk
Road' trade routes. These Artists-in-Residence live for two months with the
family of a Siemens employee. The visiting musicians work from special
composition studios in Siemens facilities across the U.S. During their stay,
artists share their music and culture with employees at the facility as well
as students at local schools and universities. At the end of each residency,
special concerts are scheduled so artists can perform their composition for
employees and the community. The program gives artists the opportunity to
study American culture, find inspiration in their new experience in industry,
and share their art and unique insights with new audiences.

the West. The Project has had extraordinary support from the private sector.
