- Pittsburgh-Area Stores Host Free Family Event -
IRVING, Texas, Sept. 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Michaels Stores, Inc.
(NYSE: MIK) announced today that its 11 Michaels stores in the Pittsburgh
market will participate in a clothing drive to benefit area families affected
by this month's floods. Each store will be accepting donations during the
Company's Free Family Event that takes place this Saturday, October 2, from
10:00am until 5:00pm.
The Free Family Event, sponsored by Delta Technical Coatings,
Alltrista/Forster Craft Products, and Royal Brush Manufacturing, will help
families prepare for the upcoming Holiday season by allowing them to complete
a project that can be used as a Halloween, Thanksgiving, winter, or Christmas
decoration.
The activity is intended to introduce children and parents to the fun and
family closeness crafting provides. All ages are welcome. Families are
invited to make the most of this festive season not only by donating new or
gently-used clothing, but also by completing one of several colorful pieces of
artwork using Delta paint, Forster Woodsies, and Royal Langnickel
paintbrushes. Materials will be supplied at no cost, and the lesson promises
to appeal to the whole family.
The Free Family Event is hosted as part of the Craft & Hobby Association's
(CHA) national campaign to promote crafts, "Life's Little Pleasures." The CHA
is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of arts and
crafts worldwide. The October 2nd activity is designed to get families
"Holiday ready" and to remind them that crafting is a wonderful way to create
