"Teutonia Customization Experience" wins 2008 Innovation Award from
Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association
ATLANTA, Sept. 30, 2008 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Newell Rubbermaid's
(NYSE: NWL) Baby & Parenting Essentials global business unit today
announced the U.S. introduction of a new line of German-engineered premium
strollers and accessories under the company's Teutonia(R) brand. The new
line won a prestigious 2008 Innovation Award from the Juvenile Products
Manufacturers Association at ABC Kids Expo earlier this month, based on
high marks given for innovation, marketability, trend-setting potential,
appeal and usefulness.

Extensive Teutonia consumer research revealed parents shopping for
premium strollers prefer a high level of customization, but options in the
category have traditionally been limited to cosmetic choices of fabrics and
colors. In response, Teutonia created the "Teutonia Customization
Experience," which enables consumers to personalize virtually every aspect
of the stroller -- from wheels, to chassis, to fabrics and accessories --
in order to suit their individual lifestyle and needs.
"Customization is key in the premium juvenile products market, where
parents seek solutions that can be personalized as a way to express the
uniqueness of their child," said Doug McGraw, president of Newell
Rubbermaid's Baby & Parenting Essentials global business unit. "The
Teutonia Experience takes parents well beyond previous expectations in
style, performance and functionality."
Using an in-store kiosk, consumers use software that guides them
through the build, design and accessorize phases to create their own unique
stroller. The line offers three seating options, two wheel options, three
stroller chassis and more than 40 colors and styles, as well as
coordinating accessories like a diaper bag, reversible seat insert,
handmuff, footmuff and mosquito net.
The Teutonia product line is available now at specialty baby stores in
Europe and on a limited basis in the U.S., with broader U.S. distribution
in 2009. Consumers can find a store by using the dealer locator tool at
http://www.teutoniausa.com. Prices range from $690 to $890 for the complete
system, which includes a stroller, infant car seat and carry cot. Newell
Rubbermaid acquired German-based Teutonia in 2007 and is investing in the
premium brand to deliver stronger product innovation and broader global
distribution.
