EDISON, N.J., Jan. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- KCS Energy, Inc. (NYSE: KCS) today
announced its public offering of $125,000,000 aggregate principal amount of
8-7/8% Senior Subordinated Notes due January 15, 2008 (the "Notes"). The
Notes are noncallable for five years and are unsecured senior subordinated
obligation of KCS Energy, Inc. The estimated net proceeds of the offering of
$121,000,000 will be used to reduce the amounts outstanding under the
Company's bank credit facilities. The New York Stock Exchange has approved
the listing of the Notes under the symbol "KCS_08." The Notes are rated B3 by
Moody's Investor Service and B- with a positive outlook by Standard and
Poor's.
Salomon Smith Barney was the lead underwriter for the offering. Co-
managers were Prudential Securities Incorporated, CIBC Oppenheimer, Jefferies
and Company, Inc. and Morgan Keegan & Company, Inc.
KCS is an independent energy company engaged in the acquisition,
exploration, development and production of natural gas and crude oil with
operations in the Rocky Mountains, Mid-Continent and Gulf Coast regions. The
Company also owns oil and gas property interests in the Gulf of Mexico and
Michigan's Niagaran Reef trend.
