Cox Interactive Media Announces Senior Management Promotions and Appointments

    ATLANTA, Jan. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Cox Interactive Media (CIM) has announced
the creation of a studio management group comprised of three group vice
presidents who will assume immediate P&L responsibility for CIM products and
services.
    The company has also announced the promotion of four directors to vice
president.  The announcements were made by Peter M. Winter, president of CIM.
    Executives named to the studio management group are:

    --  Stephen N. Becker*, who has been serving as vice president of
        commercial broadband services for Cox Communications, Inc. (CCI) since
        1996.

        As CIM group vice president, he will immediately assume responsibility
        for markets in which CIM is building local Internet media businesses
        in partnership with CCI.

    --  David C. Scott*, who has been working as CIM vice president of site
        development since the inception of CIM in October, 1996.

        In addition to serving as group vice president of select CIM local
        studios, he will retain the title of vice president of site
        development.  In this capacity, he will continue to lead the rollout
        of the company's key product initiatives, including enhanced
        navigation options and subscriber mail services.

    --  Gary R. Mills*, moving up from senior business manager for CIM.
        Mills managed the financial affairs of CIM during its first year.  He
        joined the Cox team in 1982 working with Cox Communications at its
        Pensacola, Fla. office, and then, with Cox Radio, Inc. in Miami.  He
        will be responsible for CIM brands primarily in markets where Cox has
        a major broadcasting presence.

    Additionally, the following directors have been promoted to vice president
of their respective areas of responsibility:

    Debbie C. Craig* becomes vice president of sales
    Hilary Goodall* becomes vice president of content programming
    Keith L. Herndon* becomes vice president of operations
    Michael Q. Parker* becomes vice president of marketing

markets around the United States, our focus needs to evolve from market
positioning to revenue growth," said Winter.  "The newly formed studio
management group will ensure that we maintain that focus with intensity.

    CIM is the nation's largest provider of local content on the Internet,

two-person shop to employing more than 225 people.  By mid-1998, CIM will

    Site Management Group

    --  Stephen N. Becker, group vice president of site management
        Since 1996, he served as vice president of commercial broadband
        services for Cox Communications, following various positions in the
        Communications' broadband services group.  Becker joined Cox
        Enterprises in 1988, where he served as planning analyst and planning
        manager.  A magna cum laude graduate of Princeton University with an
        A.B. in public and international affairs, Mr. Becker also holds an
        M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

        In his new position, Becker is responsible for Cox Interactive Media
        (CIM) studios in Hampton Roads, Va.; New Orleans; Oklahoma City;
        Omaha, Neb.; Orange County, Calif.; Phoenix, Ariz.;
        Providence/Hartford, R.I.; San Diego; Syracuse, N.Y. and Tulsa, Okla.

    --  David C. Scott, group vice president and vice president of site
        development
        Scott was formerly vice president of site development for CIM.  Before
        joining CIM, he was vice president of Internet development for Cox
        Enterprises' new media department.  He also served as publisher of
        electronic information services for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
        and vice president for Cox Newspapers.  Scott supervised the launch
        and initial operation of AccessAtlanta on the Prodigy network.

        Scott will oversee the studio in Dayton, Ohio, a range of sites
        developed in support of Cox newspaper and radio properties, and the
        process of site development.

    --  Gary R. Mills, group vice president of site management
        Most recently, Mills was senior business manager for CIM.  He has a
        history of service to Cox.  He was the controller for Cox Radio's
        Miami stations from 1988 to 1995.  Then, beginning in 1982, Mills
        worked at the Cox Communications' Pensacola, Fla., system, first as
        regional business manager and later as controller.  With an
        undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Stetson
        University, Mills went on to complete his M.B.A. at the University of
        West Florida with honors.

        Mills will initially oversee CIM studios in the following Cox markets:
        Austin, Texas; Charlotte, N.C.; Pittsburgh; Orlando, Fla.; San
        Antonio, Texas; South Florida (Miami and West Palm Beach); San
        Francisco; Seattle and Tampa, Fla.

    (Note:  The Atlanta studio will continue to report to Peter Winter,
     president of CIM)

    Advertising, Content Programming, Operations, and Marketing

    --  Debbie Craig, vice president, advertising sales
        Craig most recently held the position of advertising sales director
        for CIM.  Before joining CIM, she served as advertising manager for
        The Interactive Studio @ The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.  From 1987
        to 1993, Craig was a major accounts sales manager for the newspaper.
        She joined The Atlanta Journal-Constitution in 1983 as an account
        executive.

    --  Hilary Goodall, vice president of content programming
        Goodall was formerly content programming director for CIM.  She also
        played a key role in building and launching content service for the
        @Home Network, a high-speed online service delivered over cable. (Cox
        Communications, the broadband communications subsidiary of Cox
        Enterprises, Inc., is one of several investors in @Home.)  Prior to
        that, Goodall developed content for Apple's eWorld online service and
        Web site, and for Taft Broadcasting's interactive division in
        Cincinnati, Ohio.  Her interactive career began at the British
        Broadcasting Company (BBC) where, in the 1970s, she helped develop
        CEEFAX, a pioneering electronic news and information service.

    --  Keith L. Herndon, vice president of operations
        Before his promotion, Herndon was operations director for CIM.
        Herndon previously served as administrative editor at The Atlanta
        Journal-Constitution, where he was responsible for newsroom technology
        and budget.  He chaired a task force that led the conversion to
        client-server computing in the newsroom, and was part of a team that
        developed and implemented Cox Newspapers' wide-area computer network.
        Herndon joined the newspaper in 1982 as a business writer.

    --  Michael Q. Parker, vice president of marketing
        Previously marketing director for CIM, Parker formerly served as
        circulation marketing director for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
        Prior to that, he was senior product manager for The Regina Company;
        southeast regional sales planner and product manager for McCormick &
        Company; and assistant product manager for General Mills, Inc.  Parker
        holds A.B. and M.P.A. degrees from University of North Carolina -
        Chapel Hill, and completed his M.B.A. at Atlanta University.
