o Puts Users In Contact With Game Designers
o Hourly Updates On What's New

WEST CHESTER, Pa., Oct. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Electronics Boutique Holdings
Corp. (Nasdaq: ELBO), the world's largest specialty retailer of electronic
games, is reporting tremendous user approval of the recently launched update
of its Internet website, http://www.ebworld.com.
Jeffrey W. Griffiths, Electronics Boutique senior vice
president/merchandising and distribution, said the sudden jump between August
and September of this year shows that with its new website the company has
raised its Internet offerings to a new level.
"For more than two years now, our consistent success in increasing sales
via the Internet on a month-by-month basis has demonstrated not only the
attractiveness of our product line and our pricing but also the power of the
Internet as a sales tool," Mr. Griffiths said. "The tremendous success of
this new website demonstrates something else -- that the power of the Internet
can be multiplied when it is used creatively, and that Electronics Boutique is
using it creatively."
He noted that the new website provides easy access to information about
some 4800 products, gives users opportunities to dialogue with and provide
feedback to game designers, and is updated hourly with information on the
latest product offerings.
The success of the new website is indicated by the fact that the company's
Internet sales of electronic games and software, accessories, video game
systems and related products were approximately 125 percent higher in
September 1998 than in the preceding month. The increase over September 1997
was more than 700 percent.
Electronics Boutique began selling over its website in June, 1997. The
site now receives 800,000 or more visits monthly and offers more than 4800
software and video game titles, educational and business software and
accessories, and an e-mail newsletter with tips, author and celebrity chats, a
twice-weekly bargain bin and new title updates.
The new version of the website is updated hourly with the latest news
about hot titles and new releases. It features a transactional server that
runs on the latest encryption and security software, uses the highest VeriSign
security standards, and allows users to receive the products they order in
as little as 24 hours.
"One of the great things about our website is that extends the benefits of
Electronics Boutique's tremendous buying power to customers who are not close
to one of our retail stores," Mr. Griffiths said. "This means that the newest
releases are instantly available to anyone who has access to the Internet."
Electronics Boutique's primary products are video games and PC
entertainment software, supported by the sale of video game hardware, PC
productivity software and accessories. The company currently operates 479
stores in 42 states, Puerto Rico, Canada, Australia and South Korea, primarily
under the names Electronics Boutique and Stop 'N Save Software.
