U.S. Olympic Fantasy Experiences and Olympic Memorabilia to Be Auctioned on www.usolympicteam.com

    COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., Oct. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- The official web site of
the U.S. Olympic Team, http://www.usolympicteam.com is providing Olympic fans an
opportunity to bid on more than 30 items of Olympic memorabilia and three
Olympic fantasy experiences with a 10-day online auction at
http://www.usolympicteam.com , October 1 - 11, 2002.
    The U.S. Olympic bid items for auction on http://www.usolympicteam.com and eBay
include three fantasy experiences such as VIP treatment at the 2003 Figure
Skating Championships in Dallas, Texas; a VIP trip to USA Swimming's 2003
"Duel In The Pool" where the USA will battle Australia in Indianapolis, Ind.;
or dinner and practice with Greco-Roman wrestler and 2000 Olympic gold
medallist Rulon Gardner at the U.S. Olympic Complex in Colorado Springs, Colo.
These VIP experiences follow the success of other premium Olympic bid items
such as the $5,900 auction to meet and have lunch with gold medallist speed
skater Apolo Anton Ohno.  Each of the VIP experiences available will include
personal interaction time with athletes, roundtrip airfare and full
accommodations.

    Other Auction Items
    Auctions include a Xerox snowboard with more than 60 signatures from
Olympic stars like Chris Klug (snowboarding bronze, 2002), Sarah Hughes
(figure skating gold, 2002), Jack O'Callahan (ice hockey gold, 1980), Dick
Fosbury (track & field gold, 1968), and Donna de Varona (swimming gold, 1964).
Also available for bid is a 1980 U.S. Olympic Ice Hockey Team autographed
jersey signed by 1980 gold medal team members including team captain Mike
Eruzione and goalie Jim Craig.  A 1960 U.S. Olympic Ice Hockey Team
autographed jersey is also one of the most sought after items available for
bid.
    Other auction items feature various autographed Olympic team banners
including banners autographed by the 2002 U.S. Olympic figure skating and ice
hockey teams, plus items from snowboarding, skiing, speed skating, basketball,
luge, bobsled, wrestling and curling.
    Proceeds from the Olympic auctions will benefit U.S. Olympic national
governing bodies and U.S. Olympic programs such as the USOC's minority youth
program, Finding Leaders Among Minorities Everywhere (F.L.A.M.E.).
