Comerica Co-Sponsors Southwest Equity Capital Summit

    RICHARDSON, Texas, Sept. 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
Comerica (NYSE: CMA), a leading financial services company, announced today
that its Technology and Life Sciences Division is one of the sponsors of the
2002 Southwest Equity Capital Summit (SWECS), Oct. 2-3. The Capital Network
has organized the event, which will bring together investors and established
companies that seek funding.
Tony Schell, senior vice president and managing director of Comerica's
Texas Technology and Life Sciences Division, will serve on the investor panel.
At Comerica, he heads a team of lenders based in Dallas and Austin who work
with early- and late-stage technology companies throughout the state.
"It's no secret that today's uncertain economic conditions have affected
the ability of companies to secure financing, but what we are seeing is a
return to fundamentals," Schell said. "Investors remain interested in
supporting companies with strong management teams and a viable path to
profitability. We see that in working with both emerging companies and those
that are more established."
Schell's panel will be featured on the first day of the SWECS, which is
targeted toward educating entrepreneurs and executives from emerging growth
companies. The second day, for accredited investors only, will feature
presentations from 30 pre-screened companies seeking funding, and a panel on
corporate investing and partnering. To learn more about the event, visit
