TEMPE, Ariz., Oct. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Starting today, US
Airways (NYSE: LCC) customers will enjoy a bigger variety of better-quality
inflight meals and snacks for purchase in the Coach Class cabin onboard US
Airways flights with Inflight Cafe service. The new menu was developed in
conjunction with meal provider LSG Sky Chefs and will feature a selection
of fresh meals and a snack box that will change every two months to offer
customers variety.

In addition to improving the food quality and expanding the product
offering, the airline will be increasing the number of meals offered on
each flight.
Kevin Jackson, managing director, consumer and partnership marketing
said, "Our frequent flyers told us that they wanted healthy, better-quality
meal and snack choices and that they also wanted some variety. We responded
by developing a variety of options that our customers are sure to enjoy."
For October and November, the fresh meal choices for breakfast include
a deli plate with mini bagels, slices of peppered turkey, provolone and
cheddar cheese served with red grapes and cream cheese, and
cinnamon-flavored French toast with a honey-nut cream cheese spread and
sliced deli ham served with a side of red grapes. Lunch selections include
a marinated, grilled chicken salad served on a bed of romaine lettuce and
garnished with roasted pecans and mandarin oranges, and sliced turkey on
molasses bread, with green leaf lettuce and a jellied cranberry sauce,
served with Kettle Classic natural potato chips. A new snack box includes
chicken salad, garlic and rosemary crackers, a fruit bar, fruit and nut mix
and chocolate mint chip cookies.
The price of the new fresh meals has increased from $5 to $7 to reflect
use of higher-quality ingredients and the addition of a side item to
provide a complete meal. It also reflects improved packaging in a
clear-lidded box, complete with a napkin and utensils, that doubles as a
plate, making the meal easier to eat.
Inflight Cafe meal selections may be purchased on select domestic,
Caribbean and Latin American flights greater than 3.5 hours departing from
5 a.m. to 8 p.m.; the snack box may be purchased on select flights over 2.5
hours, departing between 5 a.m. and 8 p.m.
The upgrade is just one in a series of enhancements to the airline's
inflight experience that will be made over the next several months. Later
this fall, US Airways will also roll out new First Class meals. The meals,
currently in development with LSG Sky Chefs, will be based on classic
American cuisine and will feature fresh, new, nutritious ingredients. They
will also be rotated more frequently and served during longer windows.
US Airways is the fifth largest domestic airline employing more than
35,000 aviation professionals worldwide. US Airways, US Airways Shuttle and
US Airways Express operate approximately 3,800 flights per day and serve
more than 230 communities in the U.S., Canada, Europe, the Caribbean and
Latin America. The new US Airways -- the product of a merger between
America West and US Airways in September 2005 -- is a member of the Star
Alliance network, which offers our customers 16,000 daily flights to 855
destinations in 155 countries worldwide. This press release and additional
