Edens & Avant to Celebrate 2nd Annual Service Day

    COLUMBIA, S.C., Oct. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Edens & Avant announced today
that offices company-wide will close October 8 for its second annual
Service Day. During the day, employees will volunteer at over 20
not-for-profit organizations across the Company's East Coast footprint.
Service Day began for Edens & Avant in 2006 when the Company set aside
the volunteer day as part of their year-long 40th anniversary celebration.
This year, approximately 130 Edens & Avant employees in Columbia and more
than 90 employees in nine other cities where the Company has offices,
including Boston, Washington D.C., Atlanta and Miami, will be providing
various services for these important agencies throughout the day.
"Last year there was something about getting out of the office -
working with the people face-to-face and doing it alongside co-workers -
that struck a chord with our employees," said Terry S. Brown, Edens & Avant
Chief Executive Officer. "Before the day was over, we knew this would be an
annual event, and we've been looking forward to it ever since."
On October 8, employees will build foundations for homes, repairs
roofs, prepare meals, organize and pack food donations, paint, landscape,
mentor elementary school students, assist with mailings and perform other
needed tasks. The organizations collaborating with Edens & Avant in
Columbia include these:
    -- American Red Cross
    -- Carolina Children's Home
    -- Carolina Wildlife Care
-- Central South Carolina Habitat for Humanity
    -- Harvest Hope Food Bank
    -- Home Works
-- Junior Achievement of Central South Carolina, Inc.
    -- Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
    -- Killingsworth Home

    -- Richland County Library
    -- Riverbanks Zoo
-- Ronald McDonald House Charities of Columbia
    -- The Salvation Army
    -- Sistercare
Brown continued, "While monetary donations are vital to these
organizations and equally supported, there is a much different satisfaction
that our employees feel serving in this manner."
