NASHUA, MA USA
NASHUA, N.H., Oct. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- GN Netcom, a world leader in hands-
free communications technologies for the commercial and consumer markets,
today announced the appointment of Lisa Escalera to the position of Director
of OEM for its U.S. operations. The newly created position signals GN
Netcom's intention to aggressively pursue additional OEM alliances with major
players in the communications equipment manufacturing market. The company is
currently an OEM provider for several brand name companies including Fellowes,
Sprint, Toshiba, Rockwell, Polycom, and PORT, a Targus Group International
Company. Earlier this year, GN Netcom struck a deal with Motorola to market
GN Netcom's second generation wireless headsets with Bluetooth(TM) wireless
technology under the Motorola brand name.

A 20-year veteran of the telecommunications industry, Ms. Escalera was
formerly Director Business Development, Voice Communications at Milpitas,
California-based Polycom, Inc. There she handled all voice communication
partnerships and spearheaded partnership programs involving AT&T, Sprint,
Nokia, Nortel and Cisco. At GN Netcom, Escalera will be responsible for the
discovery, diligence and signing of co-development partners for new GN Netcom
technologies, and for OEM sales outside of the company's traditional call
center and general office markets.
"The convergence of voice and data is just one area where GN Netcom's
technology plays a major role in enabling rapid, seamless connectivity," noted
Mike Fairweather, president and CEO, GN Netcom, Inc., and executive vice
president, GN Netcom Group. "Lisa's considerable experience in bringing the
right partners to the table will enable us to stay at the forefront of this
and other technology trends."
During the past year, GN Netcom has taken several major steps to broaden
its reach in the communications technology market. In August 2000, it
purchased JABRA Corporation, the foremost provider of hands-free products for
the mobile consumer market, and in November 2000, the company acquired Hello
Direct, a leading business-to-business direct marketer of hands-free telephony
and equipment interface solutions. In March 2001, GN Netcom announced its
alliance with Motorola, Inc. to market GN Netcom's headset with Bluetooth
wireless technology under the Motorola brand name. The sleek new headsets,
which Motorola plans to package with its own Bluetooth-enabled mobile phones,
are expected to hit retail shelves in the fall of this year.
Ms. Escalera will be based out of GN Netcom's U.S. headquarters in Nashua,
New Hampshire. She resides with her two children in the Nashua area.
