DALLAS, Oct. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Worldwide Flight Services, Inc., a leading
independent provider of quality aviation services, announced that its European
subsidiary, SFS, was recently awarded a contract to provide cargo handling
services for American Airlines at London Heathrow Airport (LHR). The contract
covers all American's flights through both London Heathrow and Gatwick
airports.
SFS, a leading European cargo handler, operates a cargo-handling network
throughout major gateways including: Paris (Charles de Gaulle and Orly),
Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Toulouse, Madrid and Barcelona, Frankfurt, Brussels,
and London Heathrow.
The contract, beginning January 1, 2001, will handle 112 flights per week
in SFS' newly acquired 85,000 square foot facility. SFS will operate a daily
trucking service to connect with American's flights through Gatwick. The
flights will consist of seven B777s, one 767-300, four 767-200s, and five
A300-600s. Worldwide will add 90 new employees to handle the expected cargo
volumes in excess of 82,000 tons for 2001. Worldwide currently provides a
variety of aviation services to American Airlines at several locations while
SFS already handles American at Paris, Madrid, Brussels, and Rome.
