BENTON HARBOR, Mich., Oct. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- At its most recent meeting,
the Chemical Bank Shoreline Board of Directors named James E. Tomczyk Chief
Executive Officer and President of Chemical Bank Shoreline, effective January
1, 2002. Tomczyk will succeed James R. Milroy in this position as a result of
Milroy's recent appointment to Chemical Financial Corporation (Nasdaq: CHFC).

Board of Directors is pleased to name Jim Tomczyk as his successor at Chemical
Bank Shoreline," said Dan L. Smith, Chairman of the Chemical Bank Shoreline
Board of Directors.
Tomczyk has been with Chemical Bank Shoreline since February 1999. He
joined the bank as Executive Vice President in charge of the Private Banking,
Trust, and Investments Division and was promoted to Senior Executive Vice
President in October of 2000.
Before joining Chemical Bank Shoreline, Tomczyk was President of the
Benton Harbor region of NBD Bank (now Bank One). He began his banking career
in 1976, when he joined Union Bank and Trust Company in Grand Rapids, Michigan
(later acquired by NBD Bank). He came to southwestern Michigan in 1995 to
head up the Benton Harbor region of NBD Bank.
Tomczyk, active in several community organizations, has served on the
United Way of Southwest Michigan in various capacities, including a term as
board chairman; is a member of the Cornerstone Alliance Finance Committee;
serves on the Council for a World-Class Community; is Treasurer and a member
of the Board of Directors of Child and Family Services; serves on the Board of
Directors of Lakeland Regional Health Foundation; and is a Trustee for the
Twin City Area Catholic Education Foundation. Tomczyk holds the Master of
Business Administration and Bachelor of Science in Economics degrees from
Grand Valley State University.
