GOLETA, Calif., Oct. 3, 2007 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company (NYSE:
RTN) has been awarded an $11.9 million contract to manufacture ALR-69A(V)
radar warning receiver systems for the Warner Robins Air Logistics Center,
Robins Air Force Base, Ga.
The new contract is for the first phase of a low rate initial
production program. This phase calls for continued development of the
system as well as production of 13 all-digital receivers. Deliveries of the
systems are expected to begin in November 2008 and end in May 2009.
"The advanced situational awareness and targeting capabilities of the
ALR- 69A(V) allow a quantum leap in performance for the warfighter," said
Roy Azevedo, manager of Raytheon's Electronic Warfare business area. "We
expect continued production of the system to result in economies of scale
and better value offerings to our U.S. and international customers."
The ALR-69A(V) provides significantly enhanced situational awareness,
improved aircrew survivability, and a solution to issues of parts
obsolescence. Its digital architecture permits easy reprogramming to keep
pace with future threats. The system is an upgrade replacement of the
ALR-69(V) currently installed on U.S. Air Force C-130, F-16, A-10 and MH-53
aircraft.
Capabilities of the new system include advanced tactical targeting
techniques that enable multi-platform geo-location for rapid and accurate
passive threat location through multiple networked aircraft.
Work on the radar warning receiver system is being performed by
Raytheon's Space and Airborne Systems business at its Tactical Airborne
Systems organization in Goleta, Calif.
