Unprecedented Gathering of China's Mobile Leaders in Macau

Leaders of China Mobile and China Unicom to speak at Mobile Asia Congress

HONG KONG, Oct. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- The 2008 edition of the GSMA's Mobile
Asia Congress will be the first event ever to bring together the leaders of
China Mobile and China Unicom -- two of the largest telecoms companies in
the world's most populous country. Wang Jianzhou, Chairman and CEO of China
Mobile, Chang Xiaobing, Chairman of China Unicom, Lu Xiangdong, Vice
President, China Mobile and Guo Ping, EVP Huawei & President of Huawei
Terminals Business Group, will be among the keynote speakers at the Mobile
Asia Congress in Macau on November 18-20. The Congress will provide
attendees with an unparalleled insight into China's huge and dynamic mobile
market at a pivotal point in its development.

Now with almost 600 million customers, China's mobile sector is in the
midst of a major restructuring. At the same time China's operators are
rolling out 3G networks, which will provide their customers with a much
broader and much richer range of services. At the Congress, Mr. Wang will
give a keynote speech on sustainable growth, while Mr. Chang will speak on
the future outlook of the mobile industry in China.

"Featuring several of the most senior executives in China's mobile
market, the Mobile Asia Congress will play a key role in setting the
industry's agenda for 2009," said Craig Ehrlich, Chairman of the GSMA. "The
Congress will also bring China's mobile leaders together with their
counterparts from India, Korea, Japan and other Asian countries, enabling
them to exchange valuable insights into the future of this fast-changing
industry."

"Sustainability will be a key topic for Macau," said Wang Jianzhou. "It
is vital that the mobile industry, which has transformed communications
across much of China, plays a major role in ensuring the future health of
the environment in which we all live and work."

"Around half of China's population doesn't yet have a mobile connection
and the vast majority don't have an internet connection," said Chang
Xiaobing. "At the Mobile Asia Congress, we will further explore this huge
opportunity for the further growth of our industry and for the Chinese
economy."

The GSMA is co-organising the Mobile Asia Congress 2008 at the Cotai
Strip(R) CotaiExpo(TM), the Venetian Macao Resort Hotel with China Mobile
