first standard for RFID item management, adopted Sept. 24, 1999.

-- Happy Birthday, Code 39 -- Twenty-five years ago, in an old abandoned
grocery story that was Intermec's early home, Intermec founder David
Allais huddled with representatives of a worldwide aerospace
manufacturer to figure a better way to keep track of the company's
parts and part numbers. The bar code language birthed at that meeting
became Code 39, the world's most widely accepted bar code symbology.
