American Eagle Outfitters, Inc. (Nasdaq: AEOS) today announced total sales for
the five weeks ended September 30, 2000 increased 28.1% to $90.0 million from
$70.3 million for the five-week period ended October 2, 1999. Same store
sales for the 2000 period increased 7.4% compared to the corresponding five-
week period last year. This compares to a 34.2% same store increase in
September 1999.
Sales for the thirty-five week period ended September 30, 2000 increased
22.6% to $597.9 million from $487.5 million for the thirty-five week period
ended October 2, 1999. Same store sales for the 2000 period rose
2.9% compared to the corresponding thirty-five week period last year.
American Eagle Outfitters, Inc. is a specialty retailer of all-American,
