Veteran Entrepreneur G. A. 'Greg' Sullivan Appointed CEO of Global Velocity

    ST. LOUIS, Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- G. A. "Greg" Sullivan, a veteran
Information Technology entrepreneur and business leader, has been named Chief
Executive Officer of Global Velocity Inc., a St. Louis-based company offering
an innovative reprogrammable hardware solution for Internet and Intranet
security.
"I am grateful for the opportunity to join Global Velocity and to help the
company take advantage of a tremendous worldwide opportunity," Sullivan said.
"With continued support from Washington University and Dr. John Lockwood of
the Applied Research Lab there, Global Velocity has developed compelling
solutions to some of the most serious challenges facing information technology
professionals. I'm here to help Global Velocity advance those solutions."
Global Velocity Inc. is based at the Technology Entrepreneur Center (TEC),
a high-tech incubator created in downtown St. Louis and headed by Jim
Brasunas. With coaching and counsel from TEC, Global Velocity is
commercializing technology that uses remotely reconfigurable hardware to
accomplish new levels of high-speed, real-time content matching of data flows
moving into and out of information networks. The result is an Intelligent
Gateway that provides new levels of Network Cognizance for its clients. Such
an in-depth understanding of network activities provides protection against
computer virus and worm threats and blocks the release of confidential
information, while providing innovative methods to assure legal and regulatory
compliance and address other critical security issues.
Sullivan is a successful entrepreneur who two years ago sold his company,
G. A. Sullivan, to Avanade Inc., a joint venture of Accenture and Microsoft.
In 1982, with a modest investment and working out of his apartment, he founded
that engineering firm with the goal of providing custom software to businesses
that used the then-new IBM PC as part of their operations. The company
prospered. Ten years later, he restructured his firm to help clients leverage
the power of the Internet in their business strategies.
    G. A. Sullivan grew to several hundred employees who developed specialized
software for the insurance, banking and securities industries, with operations
in the U.S., Netherlands and the United Kingdom. The firm also provided a
wide range of international consulting services.
Since its formation in 2000, Global Velocity has filed an initial system
and method patent application and has funded academic research that resulted
in five more patent applications. In 2004 it closed on an initial investment
round of $1.7 million, took delivery of its first five devices, and sold units
to two major defense contractors plus continuing applications research to one
of them.
In September 2004, the company signed an exclusive license agreement with
Washington University in St. Louis for intellectual property generated as a
result of research funding the company has provided. Global Velocity recently
accepted delivery of a second set of manufactured products.
"Global Velocity has made significant strides over the past five years,
and has enormous potential. We are very pleased that Greg Sullivan has agreed
to lead us into the second phase of our growth," said F. Holmes Lamoreux,
chairman of the Global Velocity Board of Directors. "Greg's experience in
building a successful business and his national reputation will help this
company reach its full potential, and we look forward to benefiting from his
leadership."
Sullivan replaces Global Velocity co-founder Matthew Kulig, who remains on
the company's Board of Directors.
