NEW YORK, Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Clinique is offering women of all ages
the opportunity to "go Hollywood" and get the makeup looks from the new 20th
Century Fox film "Anywhere But Here" starring Susan Sarandon and Natalie
Portman.
"Anywhere But Here" is the story of a restless mother (Sarandon) who drags
her reluctant teenage daughter (Portman) to Beverly Hills to flee small-town
boredom. Adjusting to their new environs and ever-changing relationship,
mother and daughter struggle together, finally reaching an understanding as
the daughter prepares to leave for college.
Beginning in early October, at participating Clinique counters (see 2nd
page for listing), Consultants will show women, one-on-one, how to achieve the
alluring makeup looks seen in the film. Whether it's the extroverted,
glamour-girl style of the mother's character, or the fresh-faced, innocence of
the daughter, a woman can walk away from the Clinique counter with the makeup
look of her choice. Convenient counter-cards, detailing step-by-step makeup
application tips, will be available for consumers to take home, so they can
easily recreate these looks on their own.
Visitors to participating Clinique counters will also have a chance to win
screening passes to the movie "Anywhere But Here," which opens only in
theaters nationwide November 12, 1999, as well as well as assorted movie
premiums.
For the L.A. premiere of "Anywhere But Here," Clinique will be providing
the 500 lucky attendees special "goodie bags" containing products, including
Quickliner for Eyes and Sheer Powder Blusher, that are used to recreate the
characters' looks.
Those who can't make it to a participating Clinique counter, can visit the
website at http://www.clinique.com, to see these looks and learn easy
application tips (see below). The products will also be available for
purchase on the site.
The Looks:
Mom's extroverted glamour-girl looks are a snap to create:
Eyes are emphatically opened by a widening band of Quickliner For Eyes in
New Black. A spotlight of Golden Lynx/Starstruck Pair of Shades Eye Shadow
Duo plays over the entire eye area with the paler shade highlighting from
lashline to brow. The deeper shade adds depth and contour at the crease. For
pure drama, Black Longstemmed Lashes extends lashes to new lengths. Brows are
carefully scripted with strokes of Warm Brown Brow Keeper. A fluff-on of
Cheeky Peach Sheer Powder Blusher adds a far-from-innocent blush. And for
perfectly rehearsed lips, Honeystick Quickliner for Lips outlines, then fills
in and gets topped with a polish of Long Last Soft Shine Lipstick in Sugar
Bean.
Like mother like daughter? NOT!
The daughter's look of clear-eyed innocence is based on a softly smudged
line of Smokey Brown Quickliner for Eyes, followed by a haze of Grey on Grey
Pair of Shades Eye Shadow Duo. Brow looks start with a defining brush-up with
Shaping Taupe Brow Shaper. Under the Brow, an eye-opening highlight:
Honeybunch Stay the Day Eye Shadow. A flick of Cupcake Sheer Powder blusher
lends a shy blush. And for sensitive smiles, Lipblush Quickliner for Lips
acts as "foundation" for a slick of Different Lipstick in Tenderheart.
