WARRENDALE, Pa., Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- American Eagle Outfitters, Inc.
(Nasdaq: AEOS) today announced total sales for the five fiscal weeks ended
October 2, 1999, increased 60.6% to $70.3 million from $43.8 million for the
five week period ended October 3, 1998. Comparable sales for the 1999 period
were up 34.2% compared to the corresponding five week period last year.
Sales for the thirty-five weeks ended October 2, 1999, were $487.5 million
compared to the $333.2 million for the thirty-five week period last year, an
increase of 46.3%. Comparable store sales for the thirty-five weeks ended
October 2, 1999, increased 24.8% compared to the corresponding thirty-five
week period ended October 3, 1998.
