MIDLAND, Mich., Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Aloysius J. Oliver, President & CEO
of Chemical Financial Corporation (Nasdaq: CHFC) and Chairman of the Board of
Chemical Bank West, announced the recent appointment of Robert J. Stephan and
John H. Zwarensteyn to the board of directors of Chemical Bank West, Cadillac,
MI. Messrs. Stephan and Zwarensteyn were previously directors of Bank West
Financial Corporation, Grand Rapids, MI, prior to its acquisition by Chemical
Financial Corporation and the subsequent merger of Bank West into Chemical
Bank West on September 14, 2001. Both individuals will also continue to serve
on the local community bank board of the Grand Rapids office of Chemical Bank
West.
Mr. Stephan previously served as Chairman of the Board of Bank West
Financial Corporation, and will continue to chair Chemical Bank West's
community bank board in Grand Rapids. Mr. Stephan earned his B. S. degree
from Western Michigan University and his J. D. degree from the Detroit College
of Law. He has served as prosecuting attorney for two Michigan counties, has
operated a private law practice, and is currently president of SecureOne
Benefit Administrators, Inc. in Grand Rapids.
Mr. Zwarensteyn has been a director of Bank West Financial Corporation
since 1991, holding various committee positions and serving as Secretary to
the Board of Directors. Mr. Zwarensteyn holds a B.A. Degree in Advertising,
Public Relations and Journalism and an M.B.A. degree in Marketing from
Michigan State University. Mr. Zwarensteyn is President/CEO of Gemini
Corporation of Grand Rapids, MI, which is the publisher of the Grand Rapids
Business Journal and various other magazines and specialty publications.
Gemini Corporation also operates Gemini Ventures, a joint ventures and
investments division. Mr. Zwarensteyn is well-known in the Grand Rapids
market through his affiliations in many professional and public service
organizations.
