CLEVELAND, Oct. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Hawk Corporation (Amex: HWK)
announced the promotion of Steven J. Campbell to Senior Vice President of Hawk
Corporation and President of its Performance Racing segment. Mr. Campbell
will continue in his duties as President of Wellman Products Group, the
Company's friction products segment.

The Performance Racing group is a leading manufacturer of premium branded
drive train components for motorsports and performance automotive markets.
The products are used by leading teams in the NASCAR racing series, as well as
for high-performance street vehicles, and other road race and oval track
competition cars.
Campbell joined Hawk in February 2000 as President of the Company's
Wellman Products Group. Campbell has more than 20 years of business
experience with proven accomplishments in areas of sales, manufacturing,
strategic planning and international expansion. Prior to joining Hawk,
Campbell was with Cooper Industries, Inc.
Other appointments announced today by the Company's Wellman Products Group
include: Thomas Jaros to Vice President and General Manager who will be head
of Wellman's original equipment business segment; Stuart Weitzman, Vice
President, Aftermarket; Giovanni Paolo Nani to Managing Director, Europe; and
Albert Chong to Vice President, Business Development and Sourcing-Asia
Pacific; David Hanson to General Manager - China.
These changes are being made to sharpen the Company's focus on improving
global share in the original equipment market and growing its aftermarket and
Hawk Performance(R) brand businesses.
