JACKSON, Mich., Oct. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Consumers Energy is
inviting the owners and operators of minority- and woman-owned businesses to
attend a vendor fair on Nov. 1.
Those attending the event will have the opportunity to meet with the
utility's buyers and contract administrators to learn about many of Consumers
Energy's pending bid opportunities for a variety of goods and services.
The vendor fair will take place from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m., Nov. 1, at the
utility's headquarters, located at One Energy Plaza in Jackson.
Robert Fenech, the utility's senior vice president of nuclear, fossil, and
hydro operations, will make a brief presentation about the value that the
utility places on diversity in procurement. Fenech also serves as the
executive adviser to the Company's Minority Advisory Panel.
Quentin Guinn, contract services lead for the utility's purchasing
department, said the vendor fair is part of Consumers Energy's ongoing effort
to expand procurement opportunities for diverse suppliers.

in the Michigan communities that we serve and beyond," Guinn said.

The vendor fair will be of interest to a variety of vendors, including
those involved in building maintenance services, appliance repair, vehicle
sales, fabrication, maintenance and parts, information technology services,
construction of overhead and underground electric lines, and natural gas
pipeline construction and maintenance. Suppliers of all parts and equipment
used in electric and gas utility operations also are encouraged to attend.
