MAUMEE, Ohio, Oct. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Andersons, Inc.
(Nasdaq: ANDE) today announced a Sylvania, Ohio, site has been selected for
a new store concept to market specialty foods.
The Andersons specialty food store will serve as an anchor of a retail
center, being developed by Tomahawk Development Co., located near the
corners of King Road and Sylvania Avenue. The Andersons Market, occupying a
space of about 30,000 square feet, will have a product offering with a
strong emphasis on "freshness" that features produce, deli and bakery
items, fresh meats, specialty and conventional dry goods, wine and beer
presented in an atmosphere that is both educational and fun.
"We have seen growing success with our conventional and specialty food
product offering in our existing stores and have chosen to expand that
offering through this new store concept," explains Mike Anderson, President
and CEO. "We appreciate the support we continually receive from our
customers and see this as an opportunity to provide a venue to further
serve the needs of the greater Toledo area."
The Andersons, Inc. operates six stores, most measuring 140,000 square
feet in size, in the Toledo, Columbus, and Lima markets. There are
currently three stores in the Toledo area that features a variety of home
improvement, hardware, general mass merchandise, pet, lawn and garden, and
specialty food product offerings. The new specialty foods concept will
carry only food- related products.
When completed in the first half of 2007, the new store will have a
workforce of about 85 employees.

regarding The Andersons Market specialty food store in Sylvania, Ohio.
