Preferred Networks, Inc. Announces Michael C. Ward as President of its Subsidiary, EPS Wireless, Inc.

    ATLANTA, Oct. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Preferred Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: PFNT)
(PNI), a leading outsourcing services provider to the wireless industry, today
announced the appointment of Michael C. Ward as President and Chief Operating
Officer of its wholly owned subsidiary, EPS Wireless, Inc. (EPS).  Mr. Ward
replaces David Lopez, Jr., former CEO of EPS, effective September 16, 1998.
    Mr. Ward has over 20 years of experience in the wireless industry and is a
former Board member of EPS.  Prior to his appointment at EPS, Mr. Ward has
been serving as a senior consultant to a number of companies, including Sprint
PCS, ALLTEL Information Services, and Cellular One.  From 1995 to 1997, Mr.
Ward was vice president of operations for Wireless One Network, a 3.2 million
pop (point of presence) cellular company, and from 1987 to 1995, he was
executive vice president of operations with Dial Page.  Prior to that, Mr.
Ward held a variety of positions in operations, engineering and marketing with
AT&T and with Pactel Paging (now Airtouch).  Mr. Ward is a graduate of the
U.S. Naval Academy and holds an MBA in finance.
