Nationwide Financial Expands Packaged Investment Solutions to Advisory Services Program

The Best of America Advisory Services Program(R) introduces Separate Account
Multi-Style Investment Portfolios for advisors, clients

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Oct. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- The Best of America Advisory
Services Program, the fee-based managed account platform offered by Nationwide
Financial Services, Inc. (NYSE: NFS) through Nationwide Investment Services
Corporation, will expand its packaged investment solutions to assist advisors
in helping clients meet their investment objectives. Multi-Style Investment
Portfolios have been added to the platform as part of this expansion.
Scott Englehart, recently named chief operating officer for the Advisory
Services Program, said the decision to expand packaged solutions was largely
based on feedback from advisors who were looking for less complicated ways to
deliver investment alternatives to clients.
"We've listened to advisors and addressed their desire for sophisticated
investment solutions that can be delivered to clients in a simplified manner
without sacrificing the sales, service and technical support they're
accustomed to," said Englehart.
The Advisory Services Program allows financial advisors to use a
technology platform that will automatically establish a client's risk
tolerance and time horizon through a simple, yet sophisticated, consultative
process. Nationwide has partnered with Ibbotson Associates to develop an
investor profiling tool and asset allocation models for use with The Best of
America Advisory Services Program. The appropriate asset allocation model --
Conservative, Moderately Conservative, Moderate, Moderately Aggressive or
Aggressive -- is then selected for the client based on their risk tolerance
and time horizon.
Advisors then select from one of three turn-key investment solutions that
is best suited to a client's needs: a Mutual Fund Select Investment
Portfolio, a Variable Annuity Select Investment Portfolio, or Multi-Style
Investment Portfolios.
Multi-Style Investment Portfolios, or MSIPs, are a diversified set of
portfolios made up of individual separate account research managers that have
been carefully evaluated and selected for The Best of America Advisory
Services Program. MSIPs offer investors a diversified separately managed
account portfolio -- using multiple asset styles -- based on five asset
allocation models. Tax sensitive models are also available.
Also included in the platform is a Portfolio Review and Solution option, a
customized investment solution to serve high net worth clients with one
million dollars or more, using a combination of mutual funds and separately
managed accounts.
"The account minimums, ranging from twenty-five thousand dollars for the
Mutual Fund Select Investment Portfolio to one million for the Portfolio
Review and Solution, provide advisors with the opportunity to offer these
packaged solutions to a wide range of investors," said Englehart.
In addition to establishing the risk assessment and appropriate asset
allocation mix, the program's consultative process also:
     - Provides clients with a long-term investment strategy to help them stay
focused and on course to reach their goals
     - Alleviates time-consuming manager due diligence process for advisors
     - Streamlines the ongoing monitoring of account managers, investment
       strategy and client needs
     - Utilizes quarterly manager and strategy research reports

"Relieving financial advisors from managing day-to-day account activities
allows them to dedicate more time to managing client relationships, which is a
win-win for both parties," said Englehart.
