SAN FRANCISCO, CA USA
NAPLES, Fla., Oct. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- BioSpace, the global Hubsite for the
life sciences, and BIOCOM, the premier trade association for San Diego's life
science industry, announce that the Biotech Beach(TM) Hotbed Campaign for
2004-2005 is underway (http://www.biospace.com/BiotechBeach2004).
    (Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20010405/BIOSPACELOGO )
Biotech Beach(TM), first launched in 1989, is a branding and awareness
campaign designed to promote Southern California bio-pharmaceutical companies.
The campaign is structured to include organizations of all sizes -- from
emerging companies and startups to more established organizations and their
vendors.
"The BIO 2004 Annual Convention being held in California and the Biotech
Beach campaign will once again communicate to an international audience the
size and strength of the Southern California bio-pharmaceutical industry. With
the strides being made in the life science industry it was time these
communities showcased the talent and capabilities of our nation's strongest
life science companies and the communities they thrive in. Our hotbed
campaigns enable companies to drive their corporate message to the largest
life science audience in the world", says Chris Amato, CEO of BioSpace.
This year the sixth edition of the campaign will include the popular
Biotech Beach Map that displays participating organizations' logos and a
professional artist's rendition of their corporate facilities. The map is
enhanced through the integration of a variety of interactive components on
BioSpace's industry leading Website, http://www.biospace.com, reaching 1 million
unique visitors and 7 million page views monthly.
"This is a very effective visual," said Joe Panetta, President and CEO of
BIOCOM. "It conveys that the San Diego region is a life science powerhouse
with a close network of top-notch companies and academic institutions. It
shows the continued strength and growth of the life science industry in
Southern California."
San Diego is home to 500 biotechnology companies, employing 25,000 people
directly. California boasts the world's largest biopharmaceutical pipeline.
All local life science companies and their vendors are invited to
participate in this exciting campaign. Please contact Sahar Azarabadi at
