NEW YORK, Oct. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Greenstone Limited, a wholly owned
subsidiary of Pfizer, announced today that it has launched a generic version
of Pfizer's Neurontin (gabapentin). The new product will be distributed in 100
mg, 300 mg and 400 mg capsules.
The Greenstone announcement follows today's announcements by Alpharma Inc.
and Teva Pharmaceuticals Industries Ltd. that they have launched generic
gabapentin capsules despite the fact that Pfizer's motion for a preliminary
injunction is still pending before Judge John C. Lifland of the United States
District Court for the District of New Jersey.
While Judge Lifland did not enter a temporary restraining order requested
by Pfizer, Alpharma and Teva launch at significant risk. Pfizer intends to
aggressively pursue its claims against Alpharma and Teva. If the court
ultimately determines that the Alpharma and Teva products infringe Pfizer's
patent, Pfizer will seek all available remedies and damages, including damages
based on Pfizer's lost profits.

to meet market demand, developments in the COX-2 market and Pfizer's
operational strengths and financial resilience, Pfizer currently expects full-
year 2004 adjusted diluted earnings per share in the range of $2.12-$2.14.
