LEXINGTON, Ky., Oct. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- The Southeastern Conference (SEC)
has agreed to a four-year extension with Host Communications, Inc., a wholly
owned subsidiary of Bull Run Corporation (Nasdaq: BULL). Host Communications
has served as the SEC's exclusive marketing partner since 1989 and
announcement of the extension, granting partnership through 2007, was made by
W. James Host, CEO of Host Communications.
"We are very pleased to announce this extension and look forward to our
continued partnership with the Southeastern Conference," Host said. "While
our current contract is active through 2003, we decided to approach the SEC
for this extension. We knew that extending the contract now would provide us
a better opportunity to build stronger relationships with our current
corporate partners and others. We appreciate the confidence that Commissioner
Kramer and the directors of athletics at the member institutions have shown in
our organization, as well as the true partnership we have been able to build
with the league over the past 10 years. The SEC is truly a remarkable
organization which we are proud to represent to corporate America."
Since 1989, Host Communications' involvement with the SEC has included
publishing and printing the league's championship programs, management of the
SEC Championship radio networks and Internet site, as well as exclusively
representing the conference in the development and management of its corporate
partnership program. This extension includes expanded printing and publishing
responsibilities for Host Communications, as well as provides expanded radio
opportunities.
Current SEC Corporate Partners include Alltel, Baptist Health System of
Alabama, Chick-fil-A, Dr Pepper, Gatorade, Golden Flake, Great Southern Wood,
Greyhound Lines, Justballs.com, Red Lobster, Regions Bank, Total Sports,
Valvoline and Worldspan.
"We are pleased to extend our partnership with Host Communications for an
additional four years," said SEC Commissioner Roy Kramer. "Since 1989, Host
Communications has done an outstanding job in the sales and management of our
corporate partner program. This partnership has provided promotional exposure
for our 20 conference championship events as well as contributing to the
increased revenues our institutions have realized over the past several years.
We consider Host Communications a valued member of the SEC family and look
forward to many more years of working together."
