Raytheon Aircraft Enters Light Mid-size Market With New Business Jet

NEW ORLEANS, Oct. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Aircraft is introducing an
all-new light mid-size business jet - the Hawker 450 - to its product line.
The Hawker 450 will offer a range of 2,000-plus nautical miles; speed in
excess of Mach .80; a 5-foot, 11-inch stand-up cabin; and double-club seating.
Priced between $7.8 and $9 million, the Hawker 450 will feature the company's
signature composite fuselage and swept aluminum wing design used on the new
entry-level Raytheon Premier I and Hawker Horizon super mid-size business
jets.
"The Hawker 450 will fly faster, fly farther, offer a larger cabin and
provide a better value than any other aircraft in the light mid-size jet
market today," said Hansel Tookes, Raytheon Aircraft's chairman and CEO. "The
composite fuselage technology advantage will provide the Hawker 450 with a
cabin size of a mid-sized business jet with a price closer to a light jet.
The Hawker 450 is the next logical new airplane to join Raytheon Aircraft's
growing business jet family."
The company is accepting deposits for the new light mid-size business jet,
which is positioned between the world's best-selling mid-size jet, the Hawker
800XP, and the world's best-selling light jet, the Beechjet 400A.
As with previous new aircraft developed by Raytheon Aircraft, the Hawker 450
was created in response to market demand and with considerable input from the
marketplace, including focus groups and numerous interviews with current and
future Raytheon customers.
"Customers are demanding more range, speed and a larger cabin at an
affordable price," Tookes said, "and we are giving them what they want with
our new family of business jets."
Honeywell Inc. has been selected as the engine and avionics systems risk-
sharing partner. The aircraft will feature Honeywell's Primus Epic avionics
and TFE731-40 engine.
Raytheon Aircraft will announce the Hawker 450's certification and
delivery schedules at a later date. Full-scale development work on the new
design will be initiated following Premier I certification later this year.
Raytheon Aircraft will also announce the name of Hawker Model 450 at a later
date.
Raytheon Aircraft, a subsidiary of Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTNA, RTNB), is
