Protein Polymer Technologies to Present Product Update at the TechVest 3rd Annual Tissue Repair Conference

    SAN DIEGO, Oct. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Protein Polymer Technologies, Inc.
(OTC Bulletin Board: PPTI), today announced that J. Thomas Parmeter, President
and CEO, will present a Company update at the TechVest 3rd Annual Conference
on Tissue Repair, Replacement and Regeneration.  The content of Mr. Parmeter's
remarks will focus on progress in the development and testing of PPTI's
injectable silk-elastin polymer formulations for the treatment of female
stress urinary incontinence, and for the treatment of dermal contour
deficiencies (facial lines, wrinkles, and scars).  Both of these products are
in FDA-approved clinical trials.  He will also comment on the development of
new applications for the Company's protein polymer technology.
    The TechVest Conference, to be held October 23rd and 24th in New York
City, has become a premier event in the field of tissue repair and
regeneration, with presentations by more than 75 companies, as well as experts
from the medical and scientific community.  Tied in with the conference will
be an "Emerging Healthcare Forum" and a scientific symposium sponsored jointly
with the New Jersey Center for Biomaterials on "Understanding Cells and
Materials for Tissue Engineering."  PPTI has presented at the two previous
TechVest tissue engineering conferences.
