NORTHBROOK, Ill., Oct. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Allstate Insurance Company
continues to be recognized as a great place for moms!
Working Mother Magazine named Allstate for the 11th consecutive year as a
top company for Working Mothers in its list of the "100 Best Companies for
Working Mothers."
Working Mother selected this year's 100 Best Companies based upon six
criteria: child care support, leave for new parents, flexible work
arrangements, work/life balance, advancement opportunities and the percentage
of women in the workforce. Editors also took a look at the equitable
distribution of flexibility and perks focusing on how well companies are
providing benefits to workers at lower income and job levels
"The 2001 list of 100 Best Companies for Working Mothers truly represents
the best of the best," says Sharlene Breakey, Editor in Chief, Working Mother
Magazine. "We raised the standards this year and Allstate once again proves
to be worthy of this recognition."
At Allstate's corporate headquarters in Northbrook, Ill., employee needs
are met through onsite childcare, health and wellness services including
lactation rooms, flexible work schedules, on-site educational programs and
other conveniences such as on-site dry cleaning services, catering and oil
changes. Many of these same services and others are offered to employees at
field offices around the country. And at every site, opportunities for
working mothers to develop their careers are at the forefront.
"I am proud to say our commitment to creating work/life balance for our
employees, our most valued resource, remains strong," says Joan M. Crockett,
Senior Vice President of Human Resources. "This year we are very excited to
offer expanded flexibility to our employees, through technology. Employees
are able to view their benefits and compensation online, take classes online,
access advice and referrals for personal work/life issues through
LifeWorks(R), and even shop online."
"I have two children and benefit greatly from the work/life programs at
Allstate. I'm pursuing my master's degree through the Allstate education
program and have used many other benefits including the massage therapy rooms
and lactation room," said Son Ha Chung, Allstate employee. "If there wasn't a
mother's room, I may have had to stay out of work longer or find a different
job because nursing my baby is important to me."
