PITTSBURGH, Oct. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- The ramps from the Fort Pitt Bridge to
the Fort Duquesne Bridge, Fort Duquesne Boulevard and the Tenth Street Bypass
will be open for the morning rush hour tomorrow, October 11, ahead of
schedule, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced today.
The connection between the bridges initially was slated to open by
November 17, the official deadline for the project.
The ramp between the bridges is regularly used by 16,250 vehicles per day.
More than 148,000 vehicles use the Fort Pitt Bridge and Tunnel on a daily
basis, making it western Pennsylvania's most heavily traveled roadway.
Brayman Construction is the contractor for the $13.8 million project to
rehabilitate the inbound ramps of the bridge.
