Raytheon Sponsors State-Of-The-Art Engineering Exhibits At The Museum Of Science, Boston

                    Honors employees lost on September 11

    LEXINGTON, Mass., Oct. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Nothing inspires the creative
mind like hands-on learning.  And there's no better place to learn and be
creative than at the Museum of Science, Boston.  That's why Raytheon Company,
one of the world's leading technology firms, is sponsoring two interactive,
educational engineering exhibits at the Museum running now until January 1,
2002.
    Raytheon's sponsorship was made in honor of the four Raytheon employees
who died in the national tragedy on September 11: Peter Gay of Tewksbury,
Mass., Stanley Hall of Clifton, Va., David Kovalcin of Hudson, N.H. and
Kenneth Waldie of Methuen, Mass. All four had engineering/ technical
backgrounds.
    Engineer It! and K'NEXTECH are state-of-the-art exhibits that promote
engineering themes: creativity, experimentation and problem solving. The
Engineer It! exhibit offers visitors the opportunity to design and test boats,
buildings, bridges, windmills. Visitors to the K'NEXTECH exhibit will
experiment with the educational toy K'NEX to learn about basic mechanical
concepts and how they are used in real world applications.
    "We feel it is appropriate to honor the employees we lost on September 11
because engineering was important in each of their lives," said Greg Shelton,
Raytheon's vice president of engineering and technology. Shelton, who is
Raytheon's top engineer, added, "It is great when young people have the
opportunity to bolster their creativity and promote fundamental design and
engineering skills. The Museum of Science is behind one of our important
missions to educate a new generation of engineers."
    The exhibits are part of the Museum of Science's fall engineering theme
featuring related programs and activities. The Raytheon sponsored exhibit,
Engineer It! meets Benchmarks for Science Literacy developed by the American
Association for the Advancement of Science and encourages children to consider
engineering as a career choice, reflecting Raytheon's commitment to math and
science education.
