TOPEKA, Kan., Oct. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Later this week Payless is
launching its third annual Taking Steps to Fight Breast Cancer program to
benefit breast cancer research and outreach programs. The nation's largest
specialty footwear retailer is, once again, selling a limited-edition
breast cancer awareness item for just $2. This year's item is a decorative
charm featuring the breast cancer awareness ribbon and sling-back shoe
charm.
The 2006 program builds on the success Payless had in 2004 and 2005
with a $2 breast cancer awareness brooch. Through sales of the brooches in
2004 and 2005, Payless and its shoppers raised more than $1 million for the
Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Payless said it will again donate
100 percent of the net profits from the charm sales to the Komen
Foundation.
"As in years past, Payless is really making $2 count this October,"
said Matt Rubel, chief executive officer for Payless. "Women across America
will be showing their support in style this month with the latest accessory
-- the breast cancer awareness charm, available only at Payless. At just
$2, this unique breast cancer awareness item is an affordable, easy and
stylish way to contribute to this important cause."
To buy the $2 Payless charm, consumers can go to Payless stores or
visit http://www.payless.com beginning later this week. This is a
limited-edition item and available only while supplies last.
