Scientific Games Inaugurates New Press in Georgia

Press Adds Capacity of up to 8 Billion Tickets per Year

NEW YORK and ALPHARETTA, Ga., Oct. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
Scientific Games (Nasdaq: SGMS) announced the inauguration of the new
high-speed "P6" printing press in its Alpharetta, Georgia facility. The
press, designed and custom-built to the Company's specifications, will be
capable of producing up to 8 billion (2" x 4" equivalents) instant tickets
per year and is believed to be the highest capacity lottery press in the
world. This new press will add to the facility's previous 23 billion of
instant ticket capacity, boosting Scientific Games' Georgia capacity by
approximately one-third. This inauguration was commemorated with a ribbon
cutting ceremony attended by Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue and Georgia
Lottery President and CEO Margaret DeFrancisco.
"We designed and built our newest press in anticipation of continued
strong demand for instant tickets. Instant ticket sales have more than
doubled in the past ten years and we need to be prepared to answer the
growing requirements of lotteries throughout the world," said Michael
Chambrello, President and COO of Scientific Games. "Instant tickets now
account for over half of all lottery sales in the U.S. With this new press,
our Alpharetta facility will be able to meet the demands of the U.S. market
for years to come and take on international production when needed."
"Scientific Games has been a great partner for the Georgia Lottery and
a respected corporate citizen of Georgia over the years. They have
exhibited tremendous commitment to Georgia's employment, technological and
economic growth, and the investment in this new press is a great example,"
said Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue. "I am especially proud to visit with
Georgia companies that are considered the leaders in their industry and
Scientific Games is leading the way in innovation and technology in their
field."
"Scientific Games has been the instant ticket supplier to the Georgia
Lottery since its inception in 1993. Instant ticket sales have grown from
$501 million in fiscal 1994 to over $2.3 billion in fiscal 2007,
representing growth of over 362%," added Margaret DeFrancisco, Georgia
Lottery President and CEO. "This exceptional performance has helped raise
more than $9.3 billion for educational programs in the state of Georgia."
