State of Colorado's Chief Information Security Officer and Microsoft's US National Security General Manager Speak on Importance of IT Security

    Speaker Biographies:

    Bret Arsenault
    Bret Arsenault leads the National Security Team (US) which focuses closely
with Microsoft Enterprise customers ensuring their technology environments
(both Microsoft and other platforms) are secure.  He has worked extensively on
the creation of the Microsoft Risk Assessment methodology, which is a
standardized framework to assess and provide guidance to Microsoft customers
on their security risk.  In addition to the Microsoft RA, Mr. Arsenault has
been integrally involved in the development of Microsoft's US Emergency
Response Plan, the Worldwide Security Mobilization effort, the Trustworthy
Computing Task Force, and as being a member of the Microsoft Security
Leadership team.  Prior to his role of General Manager to the US National
Security Team, Bret Arsenault was the Chief Technology Officer for Microsoft
E-Business Solutions Group.

    Mark Weatherfort
    Mark Weatherford is a seasoned information security professional with a
distinguished career that spans the public, private, and government
information sectors. Appointed to his present position of Chief Information
Security Officer for the State of Colorado, Weatherford has broad authority
over the State's information and cyber security activities where he is
responsible for the program's policy, planning and oversight, as well as
ensuring a consistent and collaborative approach to information security
preparedness among state government agencies.
    While working in the private sector, Weatherford played a pivotal role in
establishing the first Security Operations Center for the Navy/Marine Corps
Intranet (NMCI) program which consolidated all Naval network and information
assurance operations at three central facilities within the United States. His
leadership was integral to the successful delivery of a secure IT environment
for Navy and Marine Corps customers.
Weatherford is former U.S. Naval Cryptologic Officer.
    He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the
University of Arizona at Tucson, and a Master of Science degree in Information
Technology Management from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey,
California.
    Weatherford is on the Denver InfraGard Board of Directors and is a member
of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) and the Information
Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA).  He also holds certifications
as a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified
Information Security Manager (CISM) and is certified in Homeland Security
(CHS).

    Trent Hein
    Prior to co-founding Applied Trust, Trent R. Hein co-founded and served as
Chief Technology Officer for XOR Inc. from 1991 to 2001. XOR, an outsourced
network solutions provider, was named to the Inc 500 list twice during Hein's
tenure.  At XOR, he led the adoption of technology platforms and methodologies
that enabled the company to realize annual revenues in excess of $50 million
with more than 550 employees.  In addition, Hein is co-author of the
best-selling Unix System Administration Handbook and Linux Administration
Handbook.  Unix System Administration Handbook has been translated into at
least nine languages and is recognized around the world as the "bible" of Unix
system administration.  Trent has received a Lifetime Achievement Award from
the USENIX Association for his work with the University of California at
Berkeley's Computer Systems Research Group (CSRG).  He holds a BS in Computer
Science from the University of Colorado, which in 2004 awarded him the Kalpana
Chawla Outstanding Recent Alumni Award, one of the most prestigious honors
given by the University.  Trent is Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)
#1941.  He is also Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
#54481, with an Information Systems Security Management Professional (ISSMP)
and Information Systems Security Architecture Professional (ISSAP)
designation.
