WESTFORD, Mass., and DENVER, Oct. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Unisphere Solutions,
a Siemens Innovations Company, announced today that RMI.NET, Inc.,
(Nasdaq: RMII), has deployed the Unisphere ERX-1400 with Subscriber Access

"Unisphere's equipment combines a rich set of software features with an
advanced application-specific integrated architecture," said Douglas H.
Hanson, chairman and chief executive officer for RMI.NET. "Its density,
wire-speed performance and carrier-class reliability will provide RMI.NET a
crucial competitive edge as it expands its geographic reach, scope of services
and number of customers. Unisphere has delivered the first aggregation and
subscriber management solution capable of scaling to the proportions that we
will need for our DSL efforts."
The Unisphere ERX-1400 is placed between DSL Access Multiplexers (DSLAMs)
and Internet Backbone Routers, providing termination and aggregation for as
many as 32,000 DSL connections, nearly ten times the density of current
offerings. A wide range of encapsulation schemes are supported. This allows
service providers to purchase DSL transport from different carriers with
complete interoperability.
"We're pleased that the ERX-1400 is such a key part of the aggressive DSL
roll-out planned by RMI.NET, a company that is becoming increasingly known for
its innovative service offerings said Martin Clague, president and chief
executive officer of Unisphere Solutions. "By building upon the ERX-1400,
RMI.NET can rapidly deploy new services while benefiting from greater overall
performance when compared to similar competitive offerings."
The Unisphere ERX product family includes two models -- the high capacity
1400 and the mid-range 700. The ERX-1400 provides scalable capacity for
thousands of users, making it ideal for service providers that operate high
capacity Points of Presence (POPs). The ERX-700 is designed for applications
that require mid-range capacity and has the same features and performance of
the 1400 in a more economical 7-slot package.
